One of Australia's most historic pastoral properties on the scenic shores of Lake Alexandrina. Established in 1839, Poltalloch Station has 22 historic buildings and is still a working beef cattle and sheep farm.
Tours are guided by a family member and give a fascinating insight into the life of isolated pioneers, as well as our farming life today.
Highlights include a number of historic collections and the architecturally unique shearing shed, old general store, carpenter's and blacksmith's workshops, stables, groom's room, buggy room and the magnificent Homestead front gardens. Spectacular lakeside scenery and birdwatching. Bookings are essential.
