Backpacker Adventure Tours - Battours
Hits: 337

Expose yourself to the outback. BATTOURS is a fun, vibrant and young tour company that can show you an Outback Experience like no other. Our Adventure will take you in our 4wd vehicles from Sydney or Adelaide to Alice Springs where you will not only experience some of the most stunning scenery but meet the true characters of the outback.

We explore Broken Hill then on to Koonamore Station to hear the fascinating stories from our station owner Nick Rasheed. Nick has grown up in the outback and at 28, now manages 16 000 sheep. You will see a working station first hand and maybe even shear a sheep!

We will wind our way up through the Flinders Ranges, to Iga Warta Aboriginal community. We have the opportunity to talk and experience aboriginal culture first hand. You will hear stories about growing up on the land in a traditional hunter, gatherer lifestyle, as well as heart wrenching stories from members of the stolen generation. These inspirational people will stay with in your minds forever and you will leave with a new perspective.

From there we will drive to Coober Pedy to visit the eerie underground dwellings. Cruise up to Uluru where you will experience some of the most stunning colours of the sky. We will explore the Olgas and Kings Canyon and complete our outback adventure with a Helicopter Flight over Kings Creek.

So if your up for sleeping under the stars; meeting loads of cool people; sitting around blazing camp fire with a few guitars strumming; not forgetting the beers; Battours is right for you.
This is the real outback. We like to think the outback is not only a place on the map - it?s a way of life. Battours outback adventure is truly a liberating experience.

Day 1 Ex Adelaide. Meet our vehicle at 7am at Central Bus Station Adelaide, ( 101 Franklin Street). After tour briefing, we will leave the city behind us and head for the Outback along the remote Barrier Highway to Broken Hill. There?s time for a beer at the Silverton Hotel, dubbed ?Hollywood of the Outback? having been used as a set in many films, including ?Mad Max 2?, ? A town like Alice? and the ?XXXX beer? commercials.

Days 2. Visit the Royal Flying Doctor base at Broken Hill and check out the many artistic wonders of this remote mining town. A few hours down the road, we arrive at an outback sheep station, meet up with a few old mates and maybe even shear a sheep. Bush camp in the sand dunes.

Days 3-4 Meander through the Flinders ranges to Iga Warta Aboriginal Community (Adnyamathanha) where we spend two nights around their campfire, enjoying some indigenous songs and storytelling. Campground with full facilities.
*Optional cultural activities at own expense includes music sticks and boomerang making, bush tucker plant walk, hunting kangaroo and paintings. ($55)

Days 5. Head north up the Oodnadatta track, following the route of the old Ghan train and passing the dingo Fence, to the salt pan of Lake Eyre. After a swim in the thermal springs, we stop for a beer in the remote pub of William creek (pop 2). Bush Camp

Day 6.-7 We then continue via the moon plain to Coober Pedy, the world opal capital, where we visit some of its unique underground dwellings and mines. Head up the Stuart hwy across the Northern Territory Border Skirting the Musgrave Ranges to arrive at Uluru for Sunset. Bush Camping.

Day 8 Up early for sunrise, we take a leisurely walk around the base of Uluru and there?s an opportunity to climb* if desired. Visit the Aboriginal Cultural Centre and then there?s time to relax and watch the dramatic colour changes of Uluru as the sunsets. Bush Camping

Day 9-10 We will take a hike through the ?valley of the winds? at Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) then drive to Lilla Aboriginal Community to camp in the foothills of the George Gill Range. Hike through the dramatic Kings Canyon and take a dip in the ?Garden of Eden?. A scenic helicopter flight from Kings Creek station puts the desert landscape into perspective.
